On the cusp of moving into my homestead three and a half miles away. Today my work goes into storage while my new studio is renovated. The sky is blue, the clouds are white and a new adventure is about to begin.

No matter where our eyes fall, what we see is full of wonder and surprise.  This shadow from another tree turns the tree into so many other echoes, a girl raising her hooped skirt, note the two legs, a threatening UFO coming over the horizon casting its ominous shadow on the innocent tree, the marvel of the Direct TV antenna at the left edge.

This morning in the backyard I saw five deer having breakfast in the ravine.  When they heard me step on some sticks, they were gone.  One was so involved she didn’t see her pals leave, white flags bouncing over the cornfield, and she looked up surprised and leapt away to join them. We’ve all been in that place, usually in a book store.

This morning, overcast and raining, I took a look from a cellar window. I was hoping for a Crow to stop by but none came. Instead, I noticed the transformer on the electric pole.

A welcome change in the weather after a lot of snow, our only real winter here. Reporting on the weather in the country becomes an important thing, rarely noticed in the city beyond do-I-or-do-I-not-take-an-umbrella. No umbrella today and no snow.
